Portfolio management embraces the decision-making process of creating and maintaining an appropriate combination of financial assets in order to meet investors’ goals. This course will study the management of investment portfolios as a rational decision-making process built on investment theory and best practice techniques among portfolio managers.
The course describes the investment management process, starting with the investment policy statement (IPS) and the formulation of an appropriate investment strategy. Then, it continues with monitoring, re-balancing and evaluating portfolios. The management of both individual and institutional investors will be covered along with capital market expectations, and optimization of asset allocation. This course incorporates the use of a stock market simulator where students should put in practice their knowledge and skills.
