This course explores the limits of the traditional boundaries (poetry, narrative, drama, essay, documentary, cinema, etc.) among cultural classifications. Appropriate cultural, historical, and political context provides the backdrop to understand the crossing of boundaries among genres and the incorporation of diverse art forms.
During the 2025 Winter offering, the course will be focused on analyzing digital projects from Spanish-speaking countries related to underrepresented groups—women, indigenous people, Afro-diasporic communities, LGBTQ+--and from various disciplines, such as Architecture, Environmental Sciences, Geography, Journalism, etc.
Students will evaluate all components on the website and will react to questions about resources, technological materiality and behavior, resistance, and change. In the meantime, different groups will be engaged in a DH project that will be completed by Week 9, and will be presented to the public on Friday of Week 10.
All evaluations in this course will be produced with different types of artificial intelligence. However, it is the responsibility of the students to read, edit and submit the final version of such assignment. This would help the students detect the logical or grammatical errors produced by the devices/software, and edit complex aspects of writing.
