The ability to analyze media reports while developing the forensic tools to detect false or biased news --- this is media literacy, one of the most important skills that an engaged global citizen can have in these fractious times. And with the coronavirus pandemic upon us and the 2020 U.S. campaigns underway, media literacy is more important than ever. Information now comes at us in increasingly asymmetric and unreliable ways. Whom to trust? What to believe? How to tell? This course will help students answer those questions through connected readings, intensive writing and Zoom discussions.
